Windows Phone 7 Chooser

Windows Phone has plenty of resources for you to take advantage of: the camera, the contacts, the photos, blah blah blah. So how do you use those resources inside your own Windows Phone app?

There is a way: the Windows Phone Chooser API. It lets you reach those resources simply and efficiently.

Here is the list of WP choosers:

  • CameraCaptureTask – launches the camera to take a picture, returns the picture (of course)
  • EmailAddressChooserTask – launches ‘Contacts’, returns the email address of the selected contact
  • PhoneNumberChooserTask – same as above, but returns the phone number
  • PhotoChooserTask – launches Photo, returns the selected picture
  • SaveEmailAddressTask - launches ‘Contact’ and lets you attach an email address to some contact. Returns a value telling you whether it succeeded or not.
  • SavePhoneNumberTask – same as above, but lets you attach a phone number :3

How do you use them?

Each Task has its own way of being used, so google it yourself. Haven’t had time to write it up yet :3 Will edit this post later.
